For a long time, I’ve been on a journey of self-discovery, and although I’m still progressing, I've decided to fully embrace who I am. This moment didn’t come easily; it took a lot of courage for me to share the knowledge I’ve accumulated over the years. That's why I'm thrilled to announce that I will be hosting art classes, driven by a deep desire to share my passion and skills with others.
Accepting that I am an artist capable of making a living from my craft was a significant milestone mentally for me. At times, I doubted whether I could teach effectively. However, I’ve come to realize that everyone starts somewhere. So here I am, showing up and allowing myself the grace to make mistakes along this journey. I truly cherish the opportunity to connect with new friends who are eager to learn the beautiful art of drawing, painting, and collage.
In my first class, I planned to dive into the art of sketching with a photo reference. What makes this class even more special is that the subject of the photo had to be of us as children. This personal touch will not only add a sentimental value to our sketches but will also encourage us to explore our creativity through inner child work and nostalgic memories.

Here are some photos and sketches of my students 😌❤️
In this class, Lisa came in wanting to learn a new creative skill and left with the realization that it's never too late to explore art and make new friends. That takes a lot of courage! ❤️
Here is what Lisa said:
After 40, everyone whispers: it’s too late to make friends.
Substack proved them wrong.
I joined Alexandra Manea’s art class and made two wonderful new connections. (You’re a gem) Shartaya Mollett
If you’re reading this thinking you’re too old or too awkward, try something new.
You never know who’s waiting to meet you on the other side of your comfort zone.

Additionally, Shartaya is an amazing woman who skillfully balances motherhood, work, being a wife, and her personal life. AND, I admire how she expresses herself creatively on Substack. Here’s what she had to say:
Sweet girl,
Look at you.
Bright-eyed and full of wonder, wrapped in your favorite sweater and those ballies stacked high like joy reaching for the sky.
You didn’t know then, but you were already carrying so much light.
Already walking with grace, even when you didn’t have the words for it.
I see you now.
And I honor every dream tucked inside that little smile.
Every sacred softness you held onto in a world that asked you to be hard.
Today, a quiet sketch reminded me of you,
of how far we’ve come,
of the tenderness that still lives in that little girl and how she still leads me when I forget who I am.
To Alexandra Manea, thank you.
Thank you for holding space for this return,
for gently guiding me back to her through your art, your warmth, and your presence.
Thank you for capturing me so beautifully in your sketch.
What you offered was more than a class.
It was a soft landing.
A sacred remembering.
A mirror to the beauty I carry and the girl who’s always been enough.

So, yes, I can say I am beyond delighted to have connected with these two souls. I feel good on Substack, I finally feel like I am connecting with others online the way I always wished it would happen.
To many more beautiful experiences like this, and I will see you all next month in class!
With love,
Alexandra
P.S. If you'd like to join my next art class, please join my chat so you're notified when it happens!

Thank you for creating a safe space for us and for being so gentle and encouraging. I’m still working my sketch. And I look forward to the next class.
Thank you so much, Alexandra. I’m truly honored to be included in this beautiful offering. Your creativity, generosity, and vision are so inspiring, and I’m grateful to be part of this circle you’re creating.
